Observatory for Human Machine Collaboration

The Observatory’s ultimate home will be a custom-designed facility in the Department of Computer Science and Technology’s planned extension in West Cambridge. This will sit at the heart of the Department of Engineering’s planned move, and which, therefore, creates a perfect opportunity to drive collaboration between the two.
Although this is some years away, there is a unique opportunity to build an interim facility in the Structures Lab on the Engineering’s Trumpington Street site.
The space is sufficiently large to host experiments at a real scale, and the main hall openly connects with further space that provides opportunities for production lines, roads, and other simulations demanding linear runs. It is close to Engineering’s make space, the Dyson Centre, and main workshops, which will place relevant technical equipment and expertise close at hand, particularly during the set-up phase.
